The Asian Judo Championship for adults is underway for the second day in Ordos, in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Mongolian athlete T.Ariunzaya competed in the women’s -57 kg category and won a silver medal after reaching the final against a North Korean opponent.
The 18-year-old athlete had previously won a silver medal at last year’s continental championship in Bangkok, Thailand, where she lost to Japan’s Megumi Fujita in the final. This time, she defeated South Korea’s Yuna Shin and Kyrgyzstan’s Zhanar Zholdosheva, then overcame China’s Nan Wang in the semifinals before losing to North Korea’s Hyun A Kim in the gold medal match.
After the first two days of competition in Ordos, the Mongolian team is leading the team standings with three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
