The 20-Minute City National Committee, under the Mongolian government, is exploring ways to reduce traffic congestion in Ulaanbaatar. As part of this effort, committee head R.Erdeneburen directed Kh.Nyambaatar, the city’s governor, to take necessary actions, including seeking public input.
Starting from September 1, the Governor's Office launched a public poll asking, "Do you support even-odd restrictions on car license plates?" As of September 9, 11:00 a.m., 4,067 people had participated:
- 41% supported the restrictions.
-
59% opposed them.
With around 600,000 vehicles in the capital, authorities acknowledge that the current 4,000 respondents may not fully represent the population of vehicle owners. The survey will continue until the end of the month.
