Urgoo hotel returned to Ulaanbaatar city’s municipal ownership

Ulaanbaatar City has continued efforts to recover municipally owned assets, with 15 buildings and structures reclaimed in 2024–2025 after being deemed illegally transferred.

According to the city administration, improved use of municipal properties contributed MNT 7 billion to the city budget in 2024 and MNT 18 billion in 2025 through the Property Relations Department.

As part of this process, the Urgoo hotel, located on Morning Street, was returned to municipal ownership in 2026. Although a court decision to reclaim the property was issued more than a decade ago, it had not been implemented. In October 2025, Mayor Kh.Nyambaatar announced plans to return the hotel to city ownership, and on November 4, 2025, a formal request was submitted to enforce the decision.

At a recent meeting of city officials, the Mayor said the process of reclaiming lost municipal assets had been largely completed and that ownership of the Urgoo hotel had now been officially registered under the city. He also stated that efforts are underway to return one block of the Center Cultural Palace building to municipal ownership.
